If it brings you happiness, do more of it. If it doesn't bring you joy or peace, stop engaging with it. You are in control of your emotions and you decide how you feel. If you don't like how you feel at any given moment, change your thoughts and your emotions will change with your change in thoughts. By immediately thinking of three things you are appreciative for in life, it also immediately shifts your inner state to greater peace and happiness. It is impossible to think of what you're appreciative for and feel anything other than positive emotions. Shift your thoughts and shift your emotions.
